The 2024 Ramadan Relief Fund is closed and will reopen in Ramadan 2025.

The Ramadan Relief Fund provides direct cash assistance for housing, food security, and debt relief. Our focus is to provide monetary relief to individuals and families who are struggling to cover basic living costs.

The Ramadan Relief Fund opens at the beginning of Ramadan each year. Our team reviews applications to determine eligibility and grant amount (if any).

Application Process +

  • Please complete and submit ALL required documentation on the application link
  • Our team, led by clinical social workers, will review applications on a rolling basis
  • Funds are available on a first come, first serve basis until the Ramadan Relief Fund is depleted
  • All applications must be accompanied with required documentation
  • Only COMPLETE applications will be reviewed
  • You will receive an email once your application is complete and all required documentation has been submitted
  • Approved applications will receive a payment by check or direct deposit from Zakat Fund of NYC as soon as possible

Eligibility Criteria +

  • Individuals and families in need, irrespective of faith, can apply
  • Live in New York City Metro area
  • Demonstrate that your circumstances mean that you cannot, or soon will not, be able to finance your basic needs (food, clothing and accommodation)
  • Declare all income and expenses, assets and debts
  • Provide photo ID, documents supporting circumstances including bank statements (prior 2 months), debt statements, and proof of address (utility bill, etc.)

Grant Amount +

  • The amount of the grant you may receive depends on your family size, family income, estimated expenses, and any debts you have
  • Grants range from $600 to a maximum of $3,000
  • Our average grant is $1,500
